We are a demanding and socially responsible customer

We pay utmost attention to social responsibility in all our activities. We try to propagate the idea of socially responsible behaviour also among our suppliers. In all procurement processes and in relations with our key and strategic suppliers, we follow clearly defined selection procedures. Our key selection criteria include: quality of products and services, reliability, a supplier's stability and reputation; a supplier's social responsibility; price and delivery terms.

We also provide audit services, which is why the question of independence is another important criterion when selecting a supplier. Besides adhering to strictly defined selection procedures, we have also introduced the Supplier's Code of Ethics of KPMG Czech Republic which we incorporate into all supplier contracts with our key and strategic suppliers. In this Code of Ethics, we particularly commit our suppliers to act in line with all regulations, respect human rights and ethics and to protect the environment.

We procure over 80% of goods and services from local companies and entrepreneurs and regularly procure goods and services from companies whose staff is made up in more than 50% by persons with a disability.

We monitor our carbon footprint

We monitor our carbon footprint on a regular basis and we continuously manage to minimise the impact of our undertakings on the environment.

In 2010, we became members of KPMG’s Global Green Initiative, which aimed to reduce the carbon footprint of its member firms by 15% by 2015. We were able to surpass this goal, as we globally reduced the carbon footprint per employee by 16,6 %.

The Global Climate Response is valid for 2016 to 2020 and was developed as reaction to climatic changes. Its aim is to decrease the member firms’ carbon footprint per employee by 10 %.

2010 2015

Between 2010 and 2015, at KPMG Česká republika we were able to reduce the carbon footprint per employee by 28,7 %.

2015 2016

Between 2015 and 2017, our carbon footprint per employee grew by 1%. This unfortunate development is due to the growth our firm and an increase of foreign engagements that require us to travel more.

Areas we need to monitor in view of nature of our business include primarily waste (paper consumption) and business travel. Indicators for both aspects are shown in the tables below.

ISO 14001

To increase the level of environmental protection and to monitor and mitigate potential risks of contamination, we introduced an integrated Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 standard in our firm.

Green Company

We’ve joined REMA Systém's Green Company project, which focuses particularly on the collection of firm’s old electric appliances and batteries. In FY 2016 we managed to liquidate 105,15 kg of small electric waste. In 2017, this number grew to 123,65 kg.

Educational campaigns for employees

We inform employees about the impact their activities have on the environment and we motivate them to minimise any negative effects. This way we have a positive impact on the carbon footprint not only of our company but also of our employees' households.
